
Luba Szkambara graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2006, where she received awards for her legal research and writing and was a recipient of the Charles Edward Woodrow Award for academic excellence. She articled with Heller Rubel and has been practicing criminal defence law with the firm since her call to the Bar. Luba has defended all manner of criminal, quasi-criminal and regulatory matters including property offences, frauds, assaults, sexual assaults and drug matters at the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice. Luba has also represented clients at Licensing Tribunals and in Provincial Offences Court. Luba is fluent in Ukrainian and can provide service to clients in that language.
Prior to attending Osgoode Hall, Luba worked in Arts and Culture and had a career as a consultant in Information Technology. She has been a member of a number of Boards of Directors in the Arts and Culture sector, including ASpace Gallery and Between the Lines Publishing. She was also a member of the Board of Directors at Parkdale Community Legal Services from 2006-2010. Luba a member of the Criminal Lawyers Association and the Ontario Bar Association. She holds the position of Secretary on the Executive Committee of the Ontario Bar Association’s Criminal Justice Section.
